about the library
Brooklyn Art Library is a collection of sketchbooks, created and crowd-sourced from around the world. For the past ten years, we have invited artists of all ages, backgrounds, and disciplines to engage with the sketchbook medium, amassing 35,000 books from over 135 countries. The tens of thousands of sketchbooks currently in the collection are on view to the public at our physical library space in Brooklyn, NY. The library is a free reading room where visitors discover the work of new (and perhaps unknown) artists. Click here for information on upcoming events, external rentals, and group visit options!
We offer archival, gallery-quality prints of sketchbook spreads from the collection, providing a rare look into the intimacies of the creative process. 50% of the profits from each print sale supports the artist and their art-making, and the remaining 50% supports the library space where the original sketchbook is housed.
