Children's Creative Classes

Recommended ages for children’s creative classes are 3 to 7 years old. Classes are an hour long and include a snack.

Children’s class admission: $15 a class, $20 with complimentary art supplies. 20% discount on all classes paid for at once. May be bought as a gift or in advance. Admission is not refundable, although if a class is missed we will offer a 10% discount on admission for a second, make-up class.

November Classes:

Thursday, November 2nd  from 10:30 - 11:30.  Yayo usam Polk o umpkins.. Children will spend the first five or ten minutes talking about and looking at Yayoi Kusama’s famous, colorful gourd sculptures and then make their own by painting mini pumpkins. Teaching Artist: Sasha Helinski. 

Thursday, November 16th from 10:30-11:30. Fall Pictures. Children will explore different ways to picture the fall by first making watercolor ink prints out of fall related found materials, then they will collage shapes based on their own tracings of these same found materials. Teaching Artist: Sofia Del Mar Collins. 

December Class:

Thursday, December 7th from 10:30 to 11:30.  Drawing through Movement. A drawing class for those who have a hard time sitting still. Involving both practices dance, children will take turns drawing and transcribing movement. Drawing is active, and so will be this class. Teaching Artist: Hannah Rothpearl. 

 

January Classes:

Thursday January 11th from  10:30-11:30.  Henri Matisse Collages. We will spend the first five or ten minutes talking about and looking at Henri Matisse’s famous, colorful collage works and then make our own using construction paper cut into abstract, funky shapes. Teaching Artist: Sasha Helinski. 

 

Thursday, January 25th from  10:30-11:30.  Winter Lights. Children will draw in cool and pale colored oil pastels and collage from a selection of materials, inspired by snow’s reflecting nature, on stretched cloth. Teaching Artist: Sofia Del Mar Collins. 

February Classes:  

Thursday, February 8th from 10:30-11:30. Drawing Through Movement. A drawing class for those who have a hard time sitting still. Thursday, February 22nd from 10:30-11:30. Vegetable Prints. We will use various fruits and vegetables cut in different ways and dipped in paint as stamps to make imaginative collages. Teaching Artist: Sasha Helinski.
